Wooden and Fence Jetties

Wooden and Fence Jetties were utilized in the initial grant cycle and proven effective.  The fence jetty and wooden jetty systems displace the high velocity and turbulent flow away from the threatened riverbank and realign the flow by moving the maximum velocity thread to the end of the structures, thus halting the river migration.  Variable permability allows the system to be tuned to site specific river velocity, cross section, and sediment characteristics.

Wooden Jetty

Condition: 10'-20' Raw bank prior to Installation

Design:

• 3 used REA Poles per Jetty
• 1 used REA Pole tied across each jetty as a cross-member
• Cedar Trees are attached to the cross member with the top of tree ointing downstream.
• Heavy Guage wire is used to attach tress.
• Jetties are placeda pproximately 75-100 feet apart, depending on change in flow.

Cost: Approximately: $350 - $500 per jetty

Fence Jetty

Condition: 10'-20' Raw bank prior to installation

Design:

• 3 poles per jetty
• Attach bio-degradable fencing material to the posts.
• Jetties are placed approximately 75-100 feet apart, depending on chagne in flow.

Cost: Approximately $350-$500 per jetty
